Valencia has been the capital of this part of eastern Spain since the time of the Islamic Taifa of Balansiya, more than 1,000 years ago and as such boasts a number of palaces and churches that are renowned throughout the world. Route A has 9 stops: Plaça de la Reina, IVAM, San Pio V, Nuevo centro, the Conference Hall, Dama Ibérica, Bioparc, Valencia History Museum and AVE. See the stunning Silk Exchange, La Llotja, a medieval hall that is considered a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and has been declared a Unesco World Heritage Site. Just over 100 metres from Stop 1 is the beautiful Cathedral, a mainly Gothic structure that also has Romanesque, Renaissance, Baroque and neo-Classical features. Alight at Stop 3 and visit the Museum of Fine Arts or maybe take a stroll the park over the dried-up riverbed of the Turia.

Feel the magic of science and cutting-edge technology at the wonderful vision of the future that is the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. L'Hemisfèric is a visually stunning projection hall that looks like an eye on the outside and another universe on the inside while Principe Felipe Science Museum takes an interactive look at aspects of our everyday lives and from the wider world to the furthest reaches of the universe.
L'Hemisfèric’s projection hall has three separate systems projecting onto a curved 900sq.m screen above more than 300 patrons. There’s an Imax dome, a 3D digital screen and digital full dome projections, often of an astronomical nature. Lie back and be transported to another dimension. All these dramatic features have earned nicknames such as the Eye of Knowledge and the Planetarium.
The Principe Felipe Science Museum features a series of fascinating exhibits dedicated to themes such as climate change and human DNA. There is also a children’s area that studies aspects about natural habitats, pollution and outer space. The section on ‘magical chemistry’ is well worth checking out while there is an entire level devoted to great scientists. Sports fans will love the section devoted to the city’s most successful football club, Valencia CF, and the Marvel superheroes exhibit attracts young and old in equal measure. During the summer, from July 17 to August 31, there are special night-time shows from 8pm to midnight

Discover the legacy of Antoni Gaudí, Barcelona’s favourite son, on this guided tour of his most famous landmarks. Pass the beautiful modernist facades of la Pedrera and Casa Batllo as you make your way down Passeig de Gràcia to to his undoubted masterpiece, the unfinished La Sagrada Familia. Discover the fascinating history behind this unique structure as you skip the line and are lead on a guided tour of the church’s exterior and interior, learning how Gaudí took over the project but tragically died in the middle of construction that has still not been completed.
Begin your tour at Plaza Catalunya where you will take a bus tour of some Gaudí’s most iconic designs. Make your way up the elegant, upmarket Passeig de Gràcia lined with designer shops, major banks and most importantly, Casa Battlò and Casa Milà, two exceptional city centre Gaudí structures. Admire the flowing and undulating facades of these striking city houses that have been owned over the years by some of the city’s most wealthy residents.
Then arrive at the highlight of the tour, La Sagrada Familia, the unique and iconic basilica that Gaudí commenced in 1883 and to which he dedicated the last years of his life until his untimely death in 1926. Marvel at the towering modernist spires of its exterior and then skip the line as you head inside to admire the pillars, columns and stained glass windows of the interior. Your guide will explain the building’s rich history and detail the future plans for the church, including the vision of finally finishing Gaudí’s masterpiece before the centenary of his death
